Course Description

This is a required course for all ACTS Graduate and Undergraduate Students.

This course is designed to be a workshop that reinforce  writing skills and introduce students to practice of writing for academic purpose to meet the demands of higher education . The course introduces students to the process and procedures for writing academic papers and basic research skills. The course introduces students to concepts such as critical thinking, writing skills, elements, styles in writing and integrity in academic writing.

Expected Learning Outcomes

By the end of this course, the student will be able to:

· Explain the meaning and role of critical thinking in academic writing; and the relationship between critical thinking and theological reflection.

· Explain and Employ the various elements of academic writing.

· Demonstrate and apply knowledge of basic essay structure, including introduction, body, and conclusion.

· Master the procedure for writing undergraduate and master’s levels academic papers at ACTS

· Master the review and critique of academic papers

· Evaluate sources for relevance and reliability
